The concept of Mindfulness as an approach is a modern one with ancient roots, offering a new way of altering our outlook on life and helping us to manage stress and anxiety. It is very simply allowing ourselves to remain in the present with those feelings and emotions in our physical being, but not judging them. It aims to prevent those feelings and emotions from overwhelming us. It helps us to maintain a balance within the Mind and Body, which helps us to take a more philosophical and detached outlook to our experiences.
this five session course, led by Breathing Space will cover these concepts: the Key concepts of Mindfulness; the habit of thinking and coming out of autopilot; breathing and body scan techniques; the practice of Mindfulness meditation; using Mindfulness in everyday life; using Mindfulness to reduce anxiety and stress.
The course is aimed at those who wish to use Mindfulness as a tool to support their personal health and wellbeing, as well as those who wish to learn new techniques to reduce stress and anxiety. Attending the entire course is required to gain the most benefit.
Each session will take place in the Breathing Space of Catch Your Breath in the Dennyson Stoddart Gallery, Palace Green Library, every other Wednesday commencing 16 January 2019, 09.00 – 10.00 (please note the change of dates from the events programme leaflet). These sessions will take place in the closed gallery to provide privacy during sessions.

We will also host Mindfulness drop-in sessions, which will also take place in the Breathing Space of Catch Your Breath every other Wednesday commencing 9 January 2019, 13.00 – 14.00 (please note the change of dates from the events programme leaflet). These drop-in sessions are free and booking is not required.
